Is tld free?
Yes. The site, the CLI and the API are free and open source (MIT). The hosted API allows 30 searches a minute and 600 a day per visitor, which is plenty for naming a project.
Where do availability and prices come from?
From the Namecheap API, live, with availability cached for at most a minute and prices for a day. Prices come from Namecheap's price list in USD; your checkout total can differ with promotions, coupons or taxes.
Do affiliate links change the results?
Never. Registration links may use the maintainer's Namecheap affiliate link, which costs you nothing extra, but which domains appear, their scores and their order are identical either way. The test suite checks this. Read the disclosure.
What do you log about my searches?
Not the domains you check. The server logs only the request path, status and timing, plus a salted hash of your IP address for rate limiting. No cookies, no analytics. Privacy details.
Does the TLD affect SEO?
Not directly: Google treats generic TLDs equally. A name affects click-through, whether you can own your brand's search results, and type-in traffic, which is why tld favors .com and short, readable names. More on SEO and domains.
