What this site and the API collect
| Data | Collected? | Details |
|---|---|---|
| Domains and keywords you search for | Used, not logged | Sent to Namecheap to check availability. Availability results are cached in memory for up to 60 seconds, keyed by domain only, then discarded. |
| Your IP address | Hashed in memory | A salted hash is used to enforce rate limits (30 requests a minute, 600 a day) and appears in request logs. The salt changes whenever the server restarts, so hashes can't be linked across restarts. The raw IP isn't stored. |
| Request logs | Yes, minimal | Request path (no query string), status code, response time and the hashed IP. They stay in the hosting provider's log stream and aren't exported or shared. |
| Cookies | None | This site sets no cookies. |
| Analytics, trackers, ads | None | No third-party scripts. Fonts are served from this site, so your browser contacts no one else while you browse here. |
| Theme preference | In your browser only | If you pick light or dark, the choice is saved in your browser's local storage and never sent to the server. |
When you follow a registration link
"Register" buttons open Namecheap in a new tab. From then on, Namecheap's privacy policy applies. When affiliate links are enabled, the link passes through Namecheap's affiliate network (Impact), which may set its own tracking cookie so the referral can be credited. See the affiliate disclosure. tld never sees what you buy or any of your account or payment details.
Service providers
- Fly.io hosts the server and its logs.
- Namecheap answers availability and price checks. It receives the domains being checked, from the server's IP address, not yours.
- Cloudflare provides DNS for werd.sh. It resolves the hostname but doesn't proxy your traffic.
The CLI and the Claude Code plugin
Without your own Namecheap key, the CLI and plugin use this site's API, and the same rules apply. With your own key they talk to Namecheap directly, and nothing reaches this server. The CLI keeps a local price cache in ~/.cache/tld/ and your settings in ~/.config/tld/.
